Early-bird registration ends March 20

Here’s some good news: You now have until March 20 to receive the discounted rate for the 2012 Kiwanis International Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, which begins June 28 and runs through July 1.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of the big crowd expected in The Big Easy! There’s so much planned to make this year’s convention a hit. You can experience the workshops, entertainment, business and celebration of 25 years of women in Kiwanis. And don’t miss out on the tours and special ticketed events as well, including the Legends Concert with Aaron Neville and Branford Marsalis.

Also, this year is a special one because other members of the Kiwanis family will be in New Orleans at the same time as the Kiwanis convention. Circle K International members will be in New Orleans for their Large Scale Service Project and international convention. Aktion Club will be in town for the second-annual Training and Leadership Conference and CKI and Key Club Alumni groups will also be in town for their events. It’s promising to be a busy time.

So stimulate your senses in New Orleans. Take advantage of the early-bird rate and register today!

As the husband of a Kiwanian, I have the opportunity to read all the Kiwanis printed materials. Over the past few months, I have become increasingly intrigued by your approach of keeping the date of the annual convention secret.

I have read a dozen articles and ads about how wonderful New Orleans is, and I agree. I would love to visit.

But at some point, I need to know when the event is. The only clue I have had is a brief mention of "June".

I assume this is an attempt to encourage people to go to the internet, but even on your home page, I didn't see the date. In the piece above this comment box, the date is not mentioned, just the Early Bird date.

I am not surprised the date has been extended: people need a target to give some sense of urgency.

I think Kiwanis has missed a number of opportunities to improve attendance at this important and fun event.
