Special video & toolkit honoring 25 years of women in Kiwanis

The face of Kiwanis International changed forever in the summer of 1987 when delegates at the 72nd annual convention voted to allow women to join the organization. It was a historic vote that changed everything. Today, 26 percent of the organization’s total membership is comprised of women.

During the Opening Reception at the Kiwanis International Convention in New Orleans, Kiwanis International hosted a special Legion of Honor ceremony to recognize female members with 25 years of Kiwanis service. For the first time, women were awarded a Legion of Honor pin and recognized for 25 years of service by Kiwanis International President Alan Penn. Fifty-five women traveled from around the world to receive this distinguished honor. Many of these women have served in leadership positions at both the district and club levels.
