The California Kiwanis Governor, Oscar Knight, along with the Lt. Governor for Solano, Napa and Marin counties, Diane Brown, recently honored several members of the St. Helena Club.
Bill Savidge and Elaine Montaine-Watson were awarded the William A. Dunlap Fellowship award in recognition of outstanding support to the goals of this International Service Club that has 290,000 members in 8,423 clubs around the globe.
St. Helena Kiwanis President Jay Lewis was also honored by receiving the “Distinguished Kiwanian” award.
Savidge, a St. Helena Kiwanian for more than 25 years, has served as president and in multiple executive and board positions. He is a respected contributor who continually serves the organization’s focus of “Serving the Children of the World.” A multi-talented individual, he can sling a hammer with the best of them, cook hot dogs for the kids, pour beer at the Harvest Festival, and generally do what it takes to get things done.
Ms. Montaine-Watson, a member for the past seven years, was honored for her energy and creative ideas to support the goals of the organization. She is currently a board member, catalyst and coordinator for the art competition and sale for the annual fundraiser, “The Naked Vine,” social chairperson and for the past seven years has been on the scholarship committee that has awarded more than $75,000 to local high school seniors.
Lewis was recognized for his leadership abilities and his willingness to promote the ideals and goals of the Kiwanis club with incredible amounts of energy and commitment. His enthusiasm inspires not only the St. Helena club members, but also members of the other 13 clubs belonging to District 8 as well.
