SAND SPRINGS -- Community generosity will determine if Police Officer Kristi Behar or Fire Marshal Stan Smith winds up with a cream pie in their face.
Behar and Smith, both Sand Springs Kiwanis Club members, are heading up a diaper and baby wipe drive to benefit Open Heart Pregnancy Resource Center.
Behar is encouraging diaper donations, especially sizes preemies to 3; while Smith is pushing baby wipe donations.
“I guess you could say it’s the cops against the firefighters,” Behar said. “A little department competition would be good.”
Open Heart Pregnancy Resource Center offers counseling, social services, housing, and baby supplies to pregnant women and young mothers, who are often facing motherhood by themselves.
The diaper and baby wipe drive ends August 13, said Kiwanis Club President Scott Smith.
“If we have more diapers than baby wipes, then Officer Behar will get to throw a cream pie in Fire Marshal Smith’s face and vice versa,” Smith said.
Community members who want to donate diapers and baby wipes to the contest and help determine who gets a pie in the face can drop off items at several locations around Sand Springs.
Those locations are Chastain's Casual Cafe, 122 N. Main St.; Affinity Hair Designs, 15 W. 41st St.; Classy Cut, 24 W. 41st St.; Crossway Bible Bookstore, 23 W. 41st St.; Homeland grocery, 4001 S. State Highway 97; Prattville Tag Agency, 606 W. 41st St.; Salvation Army Community Center, 4403 S. 129th W. Ave.; Vision Source, 104 W. 41st St.; Open Heart Pregnancy Resource Center, 1 W. 41st, Suite E; Sand Springs Police Department, 100 E. Broadway; Sand Springs Fire Station #1, 217 N.
