SUN CITY CENTER – President Dolores Wilcox presided over the 38th anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Sun City Center recently at which Lt. Gov. Dennis McDaniel of Kiwanis Division 14 was the speaker.

Past President Chuck Wirick gave the invocation and provided a musical interlude, and Charles Foster sang songs by the Harvard mathematician Tom Leherle, who wrote humorous spoofs such as "National Brotherhood Week," "The Vatican Rag" and "The Elements."

Special members at the event were Jim Morgan, James Elliott, Joe Nargolwala, Sala Halm and Simone Baillergeone, all of whom are Hixson Fellows, the highest honor bestowed by Kiwanis International.
Awards were presented to immediate past president Seel Lundy, secretary Halm and the club.

The club assists the community by hosting blood-pressure clinics, helping with the Salvation Army Red Kettle and Beth-El Farmworker Ministry programs, participating in the Sun City Center Memorial Day services and the Art Is for All projects. Students at nine elementary schools are rewarded through the club's Terrific Kids program. Seven high school students won college scholarships from the club this year.

New and prospective members are encouraged to join the group for a luncheon meeting at noon Tuesdays at The Courtyards at Aston Gardens, 231 Courtyards Blvd.
