The Stillwater Kiwanis and Golden Kiwanis clubs have joined together to assist the Payne County Youth Services program in paying for the re-licensing of the Safe Place program in Payne County.
Safe Place provides a network of locations in Payne County where young people in crisis or at risk can get help quickly. The single year re-licensing fees for the program have increased in recent years from $200 to $600.
The two Kiwanis clubs also serve the youth of Stillwater through a number of service projects. These service projects include supporting Special Olympics, Children’s Miracle Network, community disaster relief efforts, Reading is Fundamental in local schools and scholarships to youth.
Kiwanis clubs in our area sponsor the High School Key Club, the Junior High School Builders Club and the Oklahoma State University College Key Club (CKI). These youth organizations focus on developing leadership skills, gaining insight into local and international issues and volunteer activities that support local needs.
Kiwanis is an organization of volunteers dedicated to helping children and communities. There are about 8,000 Kiwanis clubs in 96 countries, with more than 260,000 adult members and 320,000 youth members. For further information about Kiwanis, visit www.stillwaterkiwanis.org.
