The Williamsburg Kiwanis Club held its 7th annual Kiwanis Cruise for Kids event on Saturday.
Beginning at the Hal Rogers Family Entertainment Center in Williamsburg, motorcycle enthusiasts came out to ride together for a day of fellowship. Riders traveled to a Kentucky state historic site and then to Tri-County Cycles in Corbin, where the ride officially ended.
Each year, the Kiwanis Cruise raises money to help area children. This year, proceeds from the event will be used to help purchase new playground equipment for Williamsburg’s Briar Creek Park.
“The children of Williamsburg and Whitley County deserve the best opportunities to gather, play, and associate with their friends and family in a clean and safe environment,” and it’s the mission of Kiwanis to “secure such a place, free of charge,” explained David Bergman and Michael Johnson.
Recently, Kiwanis helped replace playground equipment at the city park near downtown Williamsburg.
Registration fees on the day of the event were $20 and $15 for riders and passengers respectively. The cost of registration also helped cover the cost of lunch and entry prizes for all participants. Other prizes and awards were given in various categories.
