BOSTON, MA - Parents will have a temporary reprieve from the dog days of summer on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Devir Park, when the Malden Kiwanis organization hosts Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The entrance fee is $3 per child. Planned activities include a strongman exhibit; dunk tank; 18 holes of mini-golf; children's moonwalk; and a bungee run. Concessions will include popcorn, slush, and hamburgers. Clowns will entertain guests, and a Red Sox ticket raffle is also on tap.
Malden Kiwanis is the local chapter of Kiwanis International, which supports children's charities. Proceeds from Family Fun Day will benefit charities backed by the chapter, including the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Unit in Boston, the group's Christmas gift drive, and its scholarship fund for high school students.
"Every event is special in its own way," said David Morovitz, president-elect of Malden Kiwanis. "This particular event symbolizes the community getting together and families enjoying themselves even in these tough economic times. We enjoy the fact that a mother and father can bring their kids to an event with less than $20 and can spend hours having fun."
