DOUGLAS COUNTY, GEORGIA - The Kiwanis Club of Douglas County is considering a U.S. flag project to raise money for high school scholarships.
The club guest speaker Friday was Glenn Graham of the Marietta Kiwanis Club who has helped his club raise $90,000 for scholarships.
The flag project doesn’t sell the flags but sells an annual sponsorship for $25 to businesses for putting out the flag in front of the business locations for six holidays each year.
“We started with 450 flags and four people our first year,” Graham told the meeting. “We now are putting out more than 1,200 flags each year.”
Each flags is mounted on a 10-foot conduit pipe with a cap on top to prevent water from running into the pipe.
