MARYSVILLE, CALIFORNIA—At least 20 microbreweries were featured at Saturday's ninth annual Brews, Blues and BBQ, sponsored by the Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Yuba City.

Activities at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds in Yuba City included live music by Twice as Good and tri-tip barbecue. About 700 people were expected this year, said Tom Walther, event chairman. The annual event is held around Labor Day.

Money raised at the event, the club's largest fundraiser of the year, goes toward eight $2,000 scholarships awarded to qualified high school students each year in the Yuba-Sutter area.

The Early Risers Kiwanis Club sponsors a variety of events and programs in the community throughout the year including Operation Accion de Gracias, which provides full-meal turkey dinners for migrant worker families; Breakfast with Santa; Operation Teddy Bear, which takes teddy bears to the Fremont Medical Center nursery; and pizza parties at Bridge Street School classrooms for perfect attendance.
