HASTINGS, NEBRASKA—An estimated 100 children gathered at Pastime Lanes in Hastings Saturday to end the New Year on a roll at the annual Kiwanis Bowling Tournament.
Hosted by the local Kiwanis club, the free event gave youngsters ages 4-10 the opportunity to meet other children their age in a friendly, social environment. Participants received free bowling, along with participation ribbons and trophies for the winners.
Afterward, they recounted their lane accomplishments over hot dogs and soda.
Maureen Mohlman and Susan Price co-hosted the tournament, with an estimated 25 Kiwanis volunteers assisting in various duties.
"Our vision is to help children," Mohlman said. "So this is something to give them something to do during the holiday break."
