Charity auction nets RM75,000

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA—The Legend Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently hosted a Christmas charity auction dinner themed Ray of Sunshine at its grand ballroom.

This year’s charity event, held in collaboration with Kiwanis Club of Taman Desa and Cheras, was all about giving hope and joy to children who are less fortunate.

About 750 generous donors and contributors attended the dinner where RM75,000 was raised from the auction.

The money will be distributed among three charity homes – the Kiwanis Club of Taman Desa, Tadika Kiwanis Cheras and Agathians Shelter – to help fund and maintain the operations of the homes.

Among the things acutioned off at the event were a three-day-two-night stay at The Legend International Water Homes in Port Dickson and a three-day-two-night stay at The Legend Resort Cherating, courtesy of The Legend Group of Hotels and Resorts; as well as three luxury watches sponsored by Watatime.

Guests also had the opportunity to purchase specially-designed 2011 calendars priced at RM30 each.

The evening’s entertainment included performances by local artistes such as Vince Chong, Francissca Peter and violinist Joanne Yeoh.

Kiwanis Club of Taman Desa president Andrew Heng said they have been collaborating with Legend Hotel on charity events since 2007.

Last year, they jointly organised the An Enchanted Evening with Francissca Peter Christmas charity auction dinner and managed to raise RM60,000 for the El Shaddai Community Society Kuala Lumpur, Tadika Kiwanis Cheras and Angels Home in OUG.
