You could buy a lot of things with $32,000: A new car. A luxury vacation. Or how about a school?
Last year, Key Club raised $32,000 during Key Club Week, and those funds are already at work building schools in Uganda through the international nonprofit Building Tomorrow.
Building Tomorrow empowers students like you to raise money and build primary schools for kids who couldn’t otherwise afford to go to school. The $32,000 raised during Key Club Week 2006 has funded a primary school in Uganda.
On September 1, eight Key Club members, including Key Club International President Grant Lin, left for Uganda to visit the Key Club-funded school, help build the school, and meet the children whose lives the school will change.
The group returned September 10 with stories of their amazing experience. Watch for more information about Key Club’s visit to Uganda in a future issue of Key Club magazine.
“There are many sights I’ll never forget about Uganda, like the amazing landscapes and animals,” says President Grant. “But having seen the type of life lived by the kids who will be attending the new school, it’s gratifying to know that they now have the chance to break their endless cycle of poverty.” – Sydney Jiang, International Trustee
