If your club's looking for its next service project, check out the Service Project Database (in English). Located at www.KiwanisOne.org/findaproject, this online resource lets Kiwanis-family members browse through various projects, find ideas and inspiration, read helpful tips, download materials to duplicate a successful project and more.

To maximize this new tool, clubs are asked to submit their best service project for consideration. If you have a great success story or project idea, submit your details to service@kiwanis.org.

To whomever might help, My name is Sherry and I am a single mom in Romulus. (Rudgate West trailer park at hannon and Ecorse.)  I adopt special needs children. I have 4 children right now. Their disabilities range from behavior issues from early neglect and abuse, to blind, to total care. My  newest son, 6 year old Julian, arrived home on July 18, 2011. He is at a 3 month old level and uses a wheelchair for mobility.  He was in the foster system in the state of new jersey. He was on a waiting list to enter a nursing home where he would spend the rest of his life. I actually found him online and decided we could be a great family for him. Indeed we are! We all enjoy every second we get to have him.

One of the sticking points we had in getting to bring him home was our lack of a wheelchair ramp. We live in a mobile home that just has the standard fiberglass steps.

I was not worried because I had a big tax credit coming. I showed proof to his social workers and they let me bring

him home with the expectation that within 2 months I would have a ramp built. The tax issue is complicated but I would be happy to explain it to you. I now have a tax

advocate working my case but the fact is, I probably won't get the money for another year or two. Julians social worker is coming from new jersey to check on him on

october 6th and I'm sure she's expecting to walk up the

ramp when she gets here. I am at great risk of losing him!

The adoption doesn't get finalized until January. Until then I have to do everything they say. But right now I don't have the money. I have about $1000 and that isn't gonna do it.

If there is someone out there that can help me please call me @ 734_334_7749  Please forward this to anyone you think could help. Any assistance is appreciated. Spare wood, labor help, home depot card....

Thank you so much and God Bless!
