Lots of clubs are getting creative when it comes to raising awareness about The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus.
If your club is thinking about what you’ll do this year to educate your community, take some inspiration from these ideas from CKI clubs.
Tight-knit groups
CKI clubs are forming knitting circles around popular campus hangout spots in the Capital District. More often than not passers-by stop and ask what they are making, which is the perfect opening for a quick lesson on CKI, MNT and The Eliminate Project—or even a knitting lesson, if they are REALLY interested. Finished baby blankets are sold, with profits going to The Eliminate Project.
Kicking around
CKI Walash in Bogota, Colombia, is planning a soccer tournament, inviting the service groups associated with the Colombian Youth Network to each field a team. Providing T-shirts with CKI and The Eliminate Project graphics will draw attention to the cause and the sponsor, so the tournament will raise both awareness and some funds.
Wingin’ it
College students love Buffalo wings, so Wayne State CKI plans to take advantage of that appeal. A popular restaurant near campus, Buffalo Wild Wings, will donate 20–30 percent of a diner’s bill, depending on the total amount of food sold on the event night, to The Eliminate Project. Promoting the event gives CKI members a chance to invite friends, educate people about MNT and CKI, and have good food and fun times!
Dancing the night away
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee CKI members will be donning their dancing shoes and inviting the whole campus to do the same. During basketball season, when school spirit is high and the school’s black and gold colors are flying, CKI will host “Black and Gold Fight for Eliminate,” a dance in the student union ballroom. Ticket sales will go to The Eliminate Project, and the DJ will take breaks between songs to share facts about MNT.
