The new school year brings new friends, new situations – and unfortunately, new opportunities for bullying. But not if Kiwanis can get there first! A new year also brings new chances to provide education on bullying prevention to your Kiwanis Kids, Key Club, even CKI program—or even just a helpful ear. Let them know they’re not alone.
Kiwanis Terrific Kids has provided some online tools for your battle against bullying. Check out www.kkids.org/bullyprevention where you’ll find service project ideas and helpful resources for students, parents, teachers and administrators. There’s also media coverage and links to anti-bullying organizations and websites. And mark your calendar: the next International STAND UP to Bullying Day is Friday, November 18, 2011.
Bullying can cause physical symptoms not only in victims and the bullies themselves, but also bystanders. When you help the kids you know stand up to bullying, the bullies won’t win and you can both keep on being the best you that you can be.
