KiwanisOne Status

MIGRATION
The migration of the content to KiwanisOne from the old Kiwanis site is mostly complete. The last thing we have to do is a thorough review of the new site and figure out how we could server our members better.  We are going to look at it from a different angle this time though.  Instead of just categorizing the content into groups such as Growth, Marketing, Education, etc. we are going to have a section that will group the content by position.  The positions into which we will be grouping content will be: President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, PR Chair, Program Chair, etc.  That way if you are a Membership Chair you can go right to that section to find all of the resources available.  We are very excited about these changes, as it will make it easier for the members in leadership positions in their clubs to find the resources they need.

STORE
The new and improved Kiwanis Family Store will be opening this coming week barring any last minute issues.

FUTURE UPDATES
I am going to get back to a regular schedule of posting to this blog. If there are specific Kiwanis-related topics you would like to see discussed please contact me by clicking the Contact link on the right under the 'This Blog' header.

Will there be (or is there already) a powerpoint download to teach new club secretaries the ropes of the web site?

I'm looking into some old Kiwanis club that have dispursed lately (5 to 10 years ago) in our area.  Blaine and Meridian use to have a Kiwanis club but couldn't get enough members.  The Ferndale Kiwanis would like to invite past member from Blaine and Meridian to Join with us.  Would you happen to have a list of names to contact about those members in Blaine and Meridian.  This is in the state of Washington.

Hi Henry...I do not have that list, but I think you will get some information by contacting Member Services at 1-800-kiwanis x411 or by contacting your district office.

While reviewing the "View Distinquished Club Points" section of the web page, there is one section that asks if our club was represented at both the Mid Year and District Convention.  The mid year event was held in February and I entered on our February monthly report that 4 Kiwanians attended (included President and Secretary).  While I notice that it says the District Convention attendance will be credited on the September monthly report, will the Mid Year credit also be given at that time?  Or, should it be already posted under the Distinquished Club Points tally since it was held in February?

Hi Wanda...The mid-year attendance question will also be on the September report.

Help Please! with the "profile" that I see.  Is there going to be a tutorial on using this?

I went into the various screens. I wrote down my "NAME" and attempted to change my password, but was given a message that it "failed".  Also, what is the website that I see that is associated with my name.  I don't have a website.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Wanda...We are still fine tuning portions of the community site, and the login info is one of them. We integrated the login in with the rest of KiwanisOne, when means there can only be one place to change this info. If you need to change your email or password then go to the reporting area (I think I recall you are a secretary) and in the Secretary menu there is a place to update your information.

Have you considered having Key Club and Circle K members also post blogs, the only way your are going to get sponsored youth excited about the site, and Kiwanis in general is if you include them! =)

Hi James...We are still developing our community strategy and have not gotten this far yet. We will be taking scenarios like this into consideration.  Thanks for the input.

Scott, is there a way for us to link our clubs independent website to the kiwanis one site? We have an out side site that we would like to give our members access to through this site.

Hi Ida...If you are talking abou just linking from your site to KiwanisOne all you need to do is figure out where you want the link to be on your site (maybe you have a links page), then just make the link http://www.kiwanisone.org

If this does not answer your question please let me know.
