Governor-Elects

Next year's Governors are arriving  in Indianapolis from around the world for 3 days of Education and Leadership Development.  These men and women were chosen, by you, to lead your district next year.  If you were speaking directly to them about their success as a Governor next year, what would you tell them?  Your thoughts will help shape a preseantion on "Great Governors"  I welcome any thoughts you have.

1.  Ask others.  Cal-Nev-Ha Gov. Oscar Knight has a tough  job ahead of him this next year as he will be overseeing the restructuring of the Districtic as voted by the delegates at the District Convention in Reno.  There are many that are unsure about this and need to be reassured that other Districts have already moved in this direction.  It would be my suggestion that our Gov. seek out other Districts that have already gone through the change and evaluate its success' and weekness' while developing this plan.

2.  Demographics.  Is their such a thing as a District Assessment?  What do our Districts look like?  This would be a great tool for marketing our organization District wide.

3.  Technology.  This next year, I want to hear about what other divisions are doing in my district.   We need to start embracing technology in our organization that gets information out quickly and compliments the Kiwanis Mission.  More e-mails and better web-sites.

4.  Youth leadership.  A huge factor should be focused on the youth leadership opportunities Kiwanis has to offer.  There is a whole generation that has been exposed to Community Service through their academics.  We need to grab onto and hold them close as they age into a Kiwanis club if we want to be one-million by 2015.  A high school freshman will be graduating from college in 2015.

5.  Our District conventions should be CUTTING EDGE.  Save the club stuff for the CLE,  mid-winters and Division meetings.
