Has our designation as a 501(c)(4) occured?  I don't believe our club is currently taking advantage of this reclassification? I believe it hurts in the fund raising area and I am looking to help make improvements. Thank you for you responses in advance.  Have a great day.

Hello,

I found this blog from Sylvester Neal.  I will be the chair of the diversity committee next year and was governor of MN-DAK a few years ago.  I am also on the growth committee and a task force on educational leadership.  I plan to run for KI trustee next summer in Nashville.  Having worked with many blogs and much experience as a KI leader I'd love to help out as a volunteer blogger!

Stewart,

I am on the road.  If you can send an e-mail to Scott Smith and Stan Soderstrom they can talk to you about blogging.  ssmith@kiwanis.org    ssoderstrom@kiwanis.org  Look forward to meeting you.

Rudolph,

I will take the survey soon. Thanks

Jeffery,

We ave not recieved 501 (c) 3 status yet.  The IRS has us on long term hold with no projection of when we might anticipate a response. We will notify the full Kiwanis family as soon as we hear something.

I am an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton Florida.  I was unable to attend the convention, how disappointing.  I received a phone call from fellow member Lu Files.  He told me that Rob Parker and Rick Goings made an agreement to partner their efforts.  I work for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County.  Could you please fill me in on the facts of this agreement, how it took place, why and what can we do to support it.  Thank you

Valarie,

Sorry you missed the convention, but pleased to hear that you work for Boys & Girls Clubs.  The partnership agreement is brand new and still being rolled out.  We did the ceremonial signing at the Convention and are preparing communications for both Kiwanis Clubs and Boys & Girls Clubs.  The agreement is very broad and calls on both organizations to begin a dialog on how they might support each other, rather than offer a one-size fits all.  Following are some suggestions, but there are many more ideas than this that we are trying to capture in a document and in a micro-website to help guide the partnership process.

Boys & Girls Club Projects/Ideas

Kiwanis members as BGC board members (and potential donors)

Kiwanis members as program volunteers

Kiwanis members as Youth of the Year judges

Kiwanis Club as a sponsor/underwriter for Youth of the Year

Kiwanis Club Healthy Snack Project

Kiwanis K-Kids, Terrific Kids and Bring Up Grades Programs (BUG)

Kiwanis Facility Improvement Teams (Hands-On Service)

Kiwanis Boys & Girls Clubs (new clubs or units)

Kiwanis Power Hour (Underwriting and Volunteers)

Kiwanis volunteers for National Kids Day

Kiwanis Playground or Sports Field Underwriting

Kiwanis Camps where available

Kiwanis Clubs

BGC board members, staff and parents as potential Kiwanis members

BGC as meeting site for Kiwanis meeting

BGC members participate in Kiwanis One Day

BGC members (Youth of the Year) speaking at Kiwanis Meetings

BGC members to join Builders Clubs and Key Clubs

I will post additional information as soon as we have it ready.  E-mail me if you have any specific questions at robparker@kiwanis.org

Thanks for the comments on the Kiwanis International partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I, too, work for a Boys & Girls Club and am a member of Kiwanis, and of the Youth Services Committee. We have been wondering what it means. I'll keep watching for more information.

Make it more dynamic by inviting Key Club and Circle K leaders!

I really need information on the school built by Key Club in Uganda.  Where is it? and is there a Kiwanis chapter nearbye.  I am working with a group that is planting gardens in schools in Uganda and as a Kiwanian, it seems there might be a partnership possibility here.

I look forward to a speedy response.
