Advice for someone who is merging a struggling club into a healthy one?

I just had someone ask for advice about how to successfully merge a struggling club with a healthy one.  If you have ever gone through this, or have advice that relates to a similar experience, please post your thoughts as this club presicent will be monitoring this site.  Thanks is advance for your assistance.

Rob: The East Memphis Tennessee (struggling) club merged with the Poplar Ridgeway club (healthy) back a few years ago and took the name and charter of East Memphis for historical reasons. Complications involved were personalities that went back to when the Poplar Ridgeway club was formed from members of the East Memphis club and some hurt feelings during that time. Also, age and meeting time were issues for some of the club members, mostly from the struggling club. I have moved to a different district now, but was Lt. Gov. when some of this was going on. My original club when I joined KI was the East Memphis Club in 1980 when it was thriving. I have been a member of three different clubs since then. Members of the East Memphis club may give you some direct input. It was an opportunity I would not like to repeat but I believe worked out for the best.
