I was a member of Circle K in Fremont, NE during my college years and the opportunities that the club offered me was enormous and very positive. I had received the opportunity to go to Europe with a Consulate General BECAUSE I was in Circle K. The local Kiwanis club helped support me and provided that opportunity for me.

I knew that I would join Kiwanis as soon as I graduated from college. The support our Circle K club received made a lasting impact on me.

I stay because our club readsand gives books to Head Start children and the feeling I received when those children soak up reading time and then ultimately get a book of their own brings me to tears. Most have never had their own book.

We make a difference in kid's and people's lives everyday. And that is why I am not just a Kiwanis member, but a Kiwanian for life.

I have found that this is true,surrounding yourself with an inner circle. As a 2 time distinguished president I was only able to accomplish this feat with the support of a circle of dedicated Kiwanians who were always there for me.During my years as president the club secretaries and my select circle of kiwanian club members really stood by me.

As an LG, my focus has changed and now the top layer of my circle is my Lord who through the leading of the Holy Spirit has been the main support of my tenure so far. The second layer of the circle comprises my family, my Advisor, my friend who is the IPLG/ Divisional Secretary and another friend ,a DP from my 2006/2007 class of presidents.

As a Manager, .I have also realised that realtionship building in the organisation as in Kiwanis allows for success.

Our club started using the facebook group right after we heard about it at convention. We put up coming events, links to our key club facebook, KI facebook and many other links.

We also update with quick summary our Tuesday meeting and events with projects and photos. We do not have all members connected as of yet but we are working on it.

When I was brought into the club, it was more of a social connection, now that I have been in for about five years, I have seen the importance of what we do and the lives we change. when I joined my daughter then ten became part of the meetings and services I committed to. She has learned about service through our club and what an impact it has on other children around her.

Now at 15 she is Key club president and we work together in projects with her club as well as mine.

Both of as president in our respective clubs has enabled us to share ideas and to support one another.

Kiwanis truly connects families together in service.

My Beautiful 16 year old son introduced me to Kiwanis about a year ago through his involvement in Key club. I instantly became drawn to what a wonderful organization/club it is. Not only have I met so many giving and sincere people, but I have enjoyed seeing the difference we make in the lives of so many children that we impact. I am proud to be in this club!

I chose Kiwanis because is dedicated to helping children in our communities, because someday soon, they will be our leaders. I also enjoy the friendships I have made in Kiwanis and I get a real satisfaction in making a difference.

It was more like Kiwanis chose me! My father joined the Kiwanis Club of East Bridgewater in 1954, and my brother joined in 1974. I was in Key Club in High School, and joined Kiwanis in October of 1987, when women were invited to membership. Twenty-two years later, I'm still an active member and loving every minute of my club's community service and fellowship.

Have you ever heard that your life is like a circle. Things have a way of coming back to you. Well my life did just that. I will try to answer the real reason why with out getting to personal on the web.

I am a General Manager for a hotel. I have a wonderful career, but years ago if you would have asked anyone that knew me if I would be in this position they would have laughed. I graduated with a GED and lets just say, voted less likely to succeed. With the help of some wonderful role models that believed in me I straighten up, studied everything I could, went to college and have excelled in management. If it were not for the leadership of those two people I would not be where I am today.

I had never heard of Kiwanis until about 5 months ago when I was asked to be a guest speaker at one of their meetings. After the meeting the President Mickey Parker asked me to join. After reading up on Kiwanis I knew that this was my chance to give back. To not let the hours of comment that my role models invested in me go to waste. Pay if forward. Complete the circle.

I look forward to many years of service.

What is the specific reason you choose Kiwanis?

This club been around since 1968 and I can remember as a children in this community the Kiwanis was also there for the children and the community. As a young adult I lost may way but in the last couple years the local Kiwanis has been mentoring me and I was asked to join and help others. I find it quite rewarding knowing a little help goes a long way in child or a young person life. Know I can use my skills in a postive frame in life. In the last three months I compeletly rebuilt the local kiwanis website. The moto of the Kiwanis truely works.. :)

The Graham, Texas Kiwanis Club support me during my college years with a Kiwanis Scholarship, so now I finally have the wonderful opportunity of paying it forward by being a member of the University Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls, Texas, and their sevice projects, and then this sememster becoming one of the Kiwanis Advisors for the Midwestern State University CKI Club and seeing what the future holds in these wonderful young people!

I have a 5-year old son, a 1-year old daughter, and a new little one on the way this June. I feel that there is no better way of changing the world than modeling service for our children and those we see each day. Kiwanis is so much a part of that teaching life's important lessons for me.
