For those of you planning to attend the convention, I encourage you to take full advantage of the convention opportunity. Make and to renew friendships. Take part in workshops that will help keep your clubs strong and growing and make sure the members experience is fun and relevant. And raise your hand and your voice to elect new leaders and consider resolutions and amendments to our bylaws.

The convention promises speakers who will enlighten and entertain you, but who will inspire you, too. So, plan to enjoy your time in Nashville, and to join us as we celebrate this amazing year of service and plan for the future, a time when Kiwanis is needed more than ever.

For those who are unable to attend the convention, I encourage you to visit the convention Web site, http://www.kiwanisone.org/convention, to learn about all the planned events and activities. Then, during and after convention, go back to view the highlights videos from convention, to learn the election and amendment outcomes and to view some of the many pictures taken during the three-day event.

You should also make plans now to be a part of next year’s Kiwanis International convention, to be held in June in Las Vegas. Show your spirit, show your support and share and show your Kiwanis heart with other Kiwanians from around the world.

One Day, One K

April is a month filled with celebratory days. Good Friday and Easter. April Fool’s Day, Earth Day and Arbor Day in the United States; St. George’s Day in England; Showa Day in Japan; Arbor Day in Korea; ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand, Freedom Day in South Africa.

For Kiwanis, April is special, too. It’s the month we traditionally celebrate Kiwanis One Day, April 4 this year, when Kiwanis family members come together for one day of service to children in their communities around the world. Working hand in hand in hand, Kiwanians are joined by members of Circle K, Key Club, Builders Club, K-Kids, Aktion Club, Kiwanis Junior and Key Leader to make a profound difference building parks, building schools and orphanages, providing books, mentoring students, participating in health fairs and providing access to dental care.

Kiwanis One Day is a one-day celebration of the work that Kiwanians provide every day, everywhere in the world, and a living demonstration of the Kiwanis Heart—putting service and leadership ideals into action to help children. Thank you for having a Kiwanis heart and sharing it on this special day throughout the Kiwanis world.

Make a change

The 94th Annual Kiwanis International Convention is just around the corner, which means it’s time to register to make sure you are a part of an amazing celebration of service.

This year, we are gathering in Nashville, Tennessee—Music City USA! For three days, you will have the chance to make new friends, elect new officers, update the bylaws to keep Kiwanis current and relevant, and to sharpen your service skills in workshops, forums and business sessions.

Oh, and you will have some fun, too. Lots of it!

I expect you will be asked to provide some service, too, as we want to make sure we fulfill the Kiwanis promise of making a difference, of leaving the city a better place for Kiwanis being there.

You will have a chance to make a change—to be the change—in a child’s life while you are in Nashville and to make a lasting impact on the community and upon how it sees the Kiwanis organization.

Log on to www.kiwanisone.org now and register for convention, or call 1-800-KIWANIS for more information. Make your plans to join us in Nashville this year, and in Las Vegas next year.
