Bylaws pertaining to making donations to organizations in the community in leiu of rent or for free use of their facilities
KI Bylaws: Article XVI, sect 4, defines Delegates & Del-at-large. Sect 1 defines Alt Dels. The Div LG is a Del-at-large and may be an Alt Del. Does this mean that a LG may have 2 or more votes? If not, what is the point of the LG being an Alt? The same applies to the District Secretary.
Hi, I recently asked our local Kiwanis President to email me the board of directors meeting minutes. He denied my request. he said there was nothing in the ByLaws that entitled a member to a copy. I asked him to email or mail them. He said I could see them at a regular Saturday meeting for 20minutes as long as there was another board member willing to stay the additional 20minutes after the meeting. Does anyone know the bottom line re board of director minutes and their distribution or secrecy. I thought they were public information and that anyone could request a copy. Thank you,
Rodney - The only time a member would be denied the board minutes is when the board would have information in the board minutes about a specific member that was being discussed at that time, otherwise any member may request a copy of the board minutes from their club. The Kiwanis International Board post their minutes on the website so that members can view them if necessary.
Question...does anyone have experience in identifying and implementating actions against a member for "conduct unbecoming" a Kiwanian? Thanks.
Caroline Williams
Hi Caroline!
The Kiwanis club should follow Article V-Section 5 of the Club Bylaws. This bylaw has the procedure the club must follow when charging a member with "conduct unbecoming a member".
